If I could back in time and be someone in history, I would choose to be Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks to me is one the most important women figures in history. She was an African American woman who fought against whites for colored people’s rights. I would of like to be in Rosa Parks position when she was asked to give her seat to a white man so I could see what it felt like when she refused to give up her seat. I believe Rosa Parks is someone everyone should look up to as an example. What she did was courageous, no one ever thought someone would do that especially a women. I see Rosa Parks as a strong leader who always had the hope that one day colored people will have rights and later on achieved it.

If I had the responsibility to decide where $1 million should be spent to improve conditions somewhere in the world I would choose to create projects such as bringing clean water, taking food, and collecting shoes and clothes. People in places like Mozambique have diseases such as malaria due to water contamination. Since the only water they can use come from rivers many wash their clothes and bathe in the water the people of Mozambique drink.  Taking food to places where thousands of kids are dying of hunger would be another project that I would put into action. The last project I mentioned I would create would be to take clothes and shoes to other places .In many parts of the world many people have to walk barefoot in different types of lands. Many people have to go through the winter without any blankets or clothes to warm them from bizarre weather conditions. This is why with $1 million I would put together these projects.

The color red is a color that stands out from the rest. The color read can be used to describe many positive many positive and negative things. Red is the color that stands for passion. Red can signal something hot, imagine placing your hands over a flame that warm sensation. Red is the color of Love, it is sweet, kind, but watch out because it can hurt you. Red is the sign for stop, in a stoplight it makes you know when to stop. Red can signal emergency, the color of the light on an ambulance signals that something is wrong.

A quote that I believe describes me is “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” This quote can be found in the Bible, in James 1:5. I believe this quote describes me because everything that I have done in school and the choices I have made in life, are because of this quote, that I recite before doing anything. For example, when I take tests or do a challenging homework I repeat these words in my mind before I begin to know that I will be doing excellent with the wisdom that God will be granting me. Also, when I am about to make a life-changing decision, I say this quote in my mind so that I will make the right and most smart decision there is. Everything that I’ve done and to where I am now in life, is because of these words that I say. These words are the ones that give me strength and wisdom to do everything. This quote is the quote that describes me.

You can see competition in every aspect of society. Competition can be seen among children all the way to adults. Competition in a way is good, but it can get to a point where it can also be healthy. At school we can see competition every day, for example some students try to compete to become the best athletes in school in order to obtain special scholarships to important Universities. Another way can see competition in our society is when it comes to admission into Universities. During this time many students become stressed to have the better grades than students in other parts of the world. Competition can also become unhealthy because it can cause rivalry between people. In my personal life I have seen competition in an unhealthy way. For example I have a cousin who does everything in a way of competing; she thinks that she has to always have the best stuff.  Now it’s to the point where she won’t even talk to me because she sees me as a rival not as a family member. You have to have a limit when it comes to competition.

I have tried to effect change in an issue of personal significance. When I see kids and teens bullying someone, I stop them and defend the person being bullied because it is malicious and brutal. People that bully, are unconscious of the serious damage they are doing to their victim. They do not realize that their actions or cruel words actually harm the victims, not just physically, but mentally too. However, I do notice the hurt they do to that person, and that is when I stop them. I tell them that what they are doing is wrong and unnecessary and they need to stop before matters get worse than they are. This is significant to me because I detest seeing others take advantage of someone and mock them. The kids that take advantage are no one and not perfect, to be bullying others. I have tried to effect change in this issue, and will continue to do so, because I believe no one deserves to be mistreated my others.

"Jasyah! Wake up! It is 8 already.” Alarmed, I wake up and remember it is Sunday. Sunday mornings equal church. At the thought of this, I jump out the bed and quickly search for my outfit to church; grey dress, black nylons, and black heels. After the search, I take my dress over to my mom so she can iron it and sprint to the restroom to brush my teeth. Next, I grab a towel and get in the shower. 20 minutes later I am out the shower ready to put my dress and nylons on. Then, I clutch my brush and begin to untangle the knots in my hair while I am also looking for the blow dryer. When I find the blow dryer, I blow dry my hair and comb it again to calm the wildness of my hair. Next, I plug in the hair curler and allow it to heat up. 5 minutes later I begin to, piece by piece, curl my hair. What a nuisance to do my whole hair, but I have to do it. After finishing my hair, I grab my heels and put them on. I snatch my perfume and spray it over my neck to have a pleasant aroma. Finally, I am ready for a splendid day at church!

If I could introduce an idea or material thing to a primitive culture, I would choose to introduce them a book. A book carries the perfect elements in which a person can learn much more than they can imagine. For example, the basic thing they would learn is how to read. They could start to sound out words and little by little read more fluently. Another thing that could be beneficial from a book, to a culture, is they could learn new words and learn their meanings. Those new words could be used when they speak and use them to express any of their ideas.  A book can also benefit them by learning new things or ideas that can be useful in areas such as improving their hunting techniques or in other aspects of life.

Every time I go to my AP English Class I learn something new. I would have never learned what I know now. Since the beginning of the year each class I learn something I don’t know before. One of the few things I have learned now and that I can apply now in my academic life and outside life is vocabulary. I have learned that vocabulary has the power to change the meaning of sentence.  I even use vocabulary outside of school; every time I have an argument with my little sister I always try to use high leveled vocabulary words in order to make myself seem smarter. I also use vocabulary words with my parents when it comes to discussions. Sometimes my mom doesn’t know the meaning of the words I use so she doesn’t even answer back. Vocabulary is no something we can only use when it comes to English; we can also use it in our daily life.

If I had the authority to be able to establish a holiday I would choose to create a National No Internet /T.V Day. It would be every July 21and on that day all internet connections would be shut off. Instead of everyone being on any type of social network people instead could spend time with their families playing any type of board games. Another thing people can do is go outside to take a walk around the neighborhood or read a book. Many people regularly spend time more on the internet than doing something productive. The internet is a resource in which many people rely on. For example when people have a question they automatically go to “Google” to look for the answer instead of investigating on their own. I believe the internet is one of the reasons why people become so lazy and don’t exercise their brain. Although National No Internet/T.V will be hard for many people it will prove to them that they don’t need internet or T.V to have fun.

Something I will never forget ,is the wise advice my mom gave me , “What you do right now will affect your decisions later”. It all began when I decided to take AP History in 11th grade. At the beginning things were calm and I thought that it was as easy as any other regular class, but as weeks went by it got to a point where I couldn’t cope with everything. I remember I would become stressed I would begin to cry and complain that I wasn’t meant to take the class, that I wasn’t smart enough. It got to appoint where I couldn’t take it any longer and I told my mom I was going to drop out of the class and just take regular History. That was when she told me that the decision I take right now were going to determine my future .She said that if I have the opportunity of taking a college leveled class for free and I know that I am capable of taking it , I should take that opportunity. After hearing her advice I became more motivated and I decided not to drop out. Now that the semester is almost over I have realized that all I needed to do was to organize my time and dedicate most of my time studying.

What Important Event In Your Life Will You Always Remember?
An important event in my life that I will always remember is my “Quinceañera”. A “Quinceañera” is one of the most desired events for the majority of teenage girls on their 15th birthday in the Mexican culture. This is the time when a teenager girl is presented to society as a “senorita” (girl becoming a late teenager) which now takes a special place in society. My “Quinceañera” means so much for me; this has been one of the best experiences in my life because it was a special day that I longed for ever since I could remember. I had always waited for this day when I would wear the princess dress that I always dreamed wearing when I would perform the father-daughter waltz in this celebration.  I will always feel grateful with parents for making this event the most beautiful and joyful day in my life. They did everything that was possible to them to make it special for me. Everything in my party was so well detailed that it was more than what I could ask. The most important thing about this was that, God granted me to celebrate this special day with my family and friends and it will always bring me wonderful memories.

Dear roommate,
My name is Jasyah Garcia and I will spend the following years sharing a dormitory with you. I come from a Hispanic family and I was born and raised in Chula Vista. My family is the most important people I have in my life. I have one younger brother and one younger sister. I consider myself a amiable and loving person, I am the type of person who you will always see smiling. I have lived in the same place since I can remember and never have moved to any other place. I attended Otay Ranch High school for two years and in my two years at Otay Ranch I was part of the swimming team. In 11th grade I decided to transfer to Castle Park because it was hectic waking up at 5:40 just so I can get to school on time. In my spare time I enjoy going out to the movies and spending time with my family. I also enjoy reading romantic novels or any other books with moral lessons. I hope that through these years we get to know each other more and be able to become close friends.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Sincerely,
                                                                                                                        Jasyah Garcia

The quote “He does not possess wealth, it possesses him” I believe means that money controls men. People are controlled by money in many ways. It is said that wealthy people have the power to do anything, which is partly true. Everyone in the world has the desire to obtain wealth, but few are those who obtain it. Those who do achieve wealth sometimes become careless and forget the importance of spending time with family. They start to think that by providing their family with luxuries it complements the time they don’t get to spend with them. People who obtain wealth start to loose their humbleness and come to believe that they are superior to everyone else. I would rather be someone humble from the middle class than someone wealthy who believes everyone is inferior to them. Sometime the wealthy only have friends due to their position in society and their money, I rather have true friends.

The most valuable contribution I would make to a college campus is forming a group in order to collect funds for the students who can’t afford buying books, supplies, or paying for tuition. I know that students loans already are given out to help students help pay for their supplies, but by forming this association additional help will given out for those who really need it. This association will not only benefit the students, but the college in general. The association will help students keep on studying since many of them have to drop out of school due to too much of expenses of buying books and paying for the classes. Many students also have to drop out of college because they have a family to sustain and have to pay for their expenses; this is why funding this association will help contribute to the College.

This year on October 30 I had the experience of visiting an orphanage with my family and a few friends. My aunt and her husband founded an orphanage about 20 years ago and since then it has been opened to kids of all ages. At the beginning when my mom had told me we were visiting my aunt’s orphanage I didn’t want to go because I didn’t know what I was supposed to do there. As soon as we got there I saw some kids running around other playing with their toys which made me ask myself why I had agreed on coming. My mom told my friends and me to go outside and make some friends, but we didn’t know how to approach to some girls around the age of 5 who were sitting playing with their dolls. We sent one of our friends to go to talk to them first. When I turned to see what she was doing I saw how one little girl hugged her without even knowing her. My friend turned and called us all over and when each of us introduced ourselves each girl gave us an intense hug. I could tell how more than anything what these little girls wanted was love. Later when my aunt came outside to show us around she took us to the nursing room where they had their youngest girl, her name was Samantha. Samantha was just simply adorable she had the most beautiful green eyes I had seen, she seemed so happy smiling at all of us. There my aunt told us that she had taken Samantha’s mother in at age of 13 after she was raped by her two uncles and left pregnant. After hearing this I felt bad about how I always complain about the most insignificant things when other people like Samantha’s mom have to deal with situations like rape. The whole way back I couldn’t stop thinking about the whole situation. Going to the orphanage and seeing these little girls desperate for love made me feel grateful for the family God has given me.

A local issue that is of great concern to me at this moment is the controversial issue over Castle Park’s biology teacher being caught with Methamphetamine. This past week it was reported that Ms.Garcia a biology teacher here at Castle Park was caught with 3.55 grams of Meth at CVS and had been working at the school the following week without advising the school. As soon as the media found out of what had happened all sorts of news crews came to our school to interview students about what they thought about the incident. This made me remember about the previous “hazing” incident here at Castle Park where the news came for over a week asking students NOT teachers of what they knew about the incident. It made me realize that this is the reason why Castle Park is viewed as a “ghetto” school. Every time something “dreadful “happens at our school the news makes it seem as something horrifying or out of the ordinary. Due to over exaggeration Castle Park is made seem like a school filled with drugs and other problems, never as a progressing school filled with intelligent students. It worries me that due to these problems students will be affected when applying for Colleges/Universities or that students will not want to come to Castle Park due to the rumors.

Castle Park Is already a school filled with spirited students and magnificent staff, but if I were to change two things from Castle Park’s campus it would have to be its football field and the quad area. Changing the grass into turf will not only benefit the students, but also save the school a great amount of money since it doesn’t require any maintenance. I believe that the football field is one of the most important areas in our school being that it is where many activities take place at such as P.E activities and football games. Another thing I would change from Castle Park’s campus is the quad area. Although this is my first year here at Castle Park I could tell that it’s been a long time since they haven’t remodeled the quad area. The quad area is also an important area of the school since it’s where we have activities, pep rallies and special guests. I have notices that some the tables are broken and that there is not enough space for all students to sit and eat their lunch. By making these changes our school environment will be even better than it is now.
